L’EMPATHIE À L’OEUVRE

In 2025, the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille and the Contour Progressif dance company developed a choreographic project exploring the theme of empathy through the museum’s permanent collections, aimed at young audiences.

The project took place from January to May in the form of a series of artistic workshops, culminating in a public performance on 16 May 2025 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille.

The project brought together two primary school classes from Arago Primary School in Lille and two vocational high school classes from Baggio High School in Lille, involving a total of 75 students.

The CHAP (Performing Arts) class from Makeba Middle School in Lille was also invited to create a mural for the final presentation.

The project fostered an inter-school collaboration between primary, middle, and high school students. It encouraged empathy and meaningful encounters between pupils of different ages and educational levels who would otherwise have little or no opportunity to interact within the school system.
